Data Revolution to Unlock Ordnance Survey

Internet founder Tim Berners-Lee today launched a ground breaking website designed to deliver previously guarded public data.
Data.gov.uk beta has all manner of 'government' data available for wider consumption, analysis and research.
But will these data be underpinned by the most useful component of all - mapping?
Well perhaps there is no fooling - from the 1st April 2010 Ordnance Survey are said to be allowing access to 'their' data, which we do of course know is 'our' data anyway.
Many will say the National Land and Property Gazetteer should also be freely available, it is after all entirely funded by the taxpayer and could provide a much needed boost to the economy.
Unfortunately whilst Data.gov.uk can be considered a revolution, the data and map sets of genuine value will be kept well within the strangehold of licencing agreements.
