New Ordnance Survey Subsidiary to Sell Data?
Posted on Thursday, May 14 @ 12:35:00 BST by DataDog

Geographic Information System stuff The Communities and Local Government department recently announced that Ordnance Survey must make its data available to re-users.

As part of a response to this Ordnance Survey have developed a future business strategy to deliver the requirements.

One of their goals is to set up an 'innovative trading entity' or rather, a new company, to sell the data, perhaps in a different manner and approach.

Why, might you ask?

Could this be the first step to full privatisation of Ordnance Survey?

Perhaps Ordnance Survey need a bit of a makeover? A new marketing approach to shake off its current reputation?

Or maybe the scheme is a considered a bit of a risk, and the new company would therefore sink or swim exclusively from Ordnance Survey?

Another intriguing question is would this new company become a reseller of the NLPG?

Ok, only teasing with that bit.
